Next generation cystine peptides: Increasing solubility and maximizing cell culture performance with cQrex® KC
June 28 | 9:00 a.m. (CEST) & 10:00 a.m. (EDT)

Overview
Optimizing the supply of L-cysteine is essential for efficient cell culture processes, which form the cornerstone of biological drug production. However, L-cysteine is highly reactive in media and easily oxidized to poorly soluble L-cystine that cannot be efficiently metabolized by cells.

In this webinar, we present Evonik’s next-generation cystine peptide, cQrex® KC. Around 1000 times more soluble than L-cystine, this precursor of the amino acids L-cystine and L-lysine offers a solution to limitations of amino acids in cell culture media. Find out how cQrex® KC can be used as an additive and how it helps to intensify and simplify complex production processes. We also give insights into how cQrex® KC can increase cell proliferation, viability and cell-specific productivity, therefore contributing to higher antibody titers and increasing the overall productivity of biological drugs.

This webinar is suitable for anyone who is interested in learning more about the use of innovative specialty ingredients to overcome amino acids limitations, optimize bioprocesses and increase performance in biopharma cell culture.
Key learnings for participants of this webinar:
  • Overview of cell culture media optimization with chemically defined peptides
  • Managing L-cystine supply and media chemistry with cQrex® KC
  • Introduction to cQrex® KC for process intensification and simplification

Dr. Stephan Brinkmann

Stephan Brinkmann works as project manager and head of Evonik's Biopharma Applications group at Evonik R&D for the Health Care business line. He is responsible for biopharma innovation projects as well as application tests of Evonik's cell culture ingredients (i.e., cQrex® peptides). Stephan studied molecular biotechnology at Bielefeld University in Germany, where he specialized in biopharma upstream and downstream process development. Before joining Evonik, Stephan worked in Switzerland on industrial mammalian cell line development for the production of therapeutic biologics. Stephan obtained his Ph.D. in a public private partnership with Sanofi and later Evotec at Fraunhofer IME in Giessen with a focus on the discovery of natural products, especially peptides.
